Mission & Vision Statement
Our mission is to perpetuate and celebrate Hawaiian culture, language, and ancestral knowledge through creative endeavors and educational experiences. To inspire deep connections to ʻāina, nurturing healthy kānaka, thriving ʻohana, and vibrant communities.

Company Values
ʻIke Kūpuna (Ancestral Knowledge)
Kaulana Mahina values the wisdom of ancestors, recognizing their deep understanding of the interconnectedness of all things in the ʻāina (land). Each product is rooted in ʻike kūpuna, researched through old Hawaiian language newspapers, interviews with modern-day kūpuna (elders), and cultural practitioners, and paired with modern science to showcase the intelligence of the ancestors.
Aloha ʻĀina (Love of the Land)
Kaulana Mahina emphasizes the importance of paying attention to and understanding the environment. This value fosters a deep love and desire to care for the land, reflecting the interconnectedness of all things on the ʻāina.
Pilina (Connection)
At Kaulana Mahina, the belief in interconnectedness runs deep, acknowledging the ties between the environment, relationships among people, and peopleʻs connection to nature. This value guides Kaulana Mahina in fostering sustainable practices and cultivating a deeper understanding of how these connections enrich both communities and the environment.

Aloha kākou,
ʻO wau ʻo Haunani Miyasato. A māmā of 4 keiki who go to a Hawaiian immersion school. Since I needed to learn ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi in order to support their education, I returned to kulanui to learn it. I took a class all about the moon called "Nohona Kaulana Mahina" at Ka Haka ʻUla o Keʻelikōlani with Kumu Henani Enos. I gained so much ʻike from this class and wanted to put it to practice everyday. I compiled all my haʻawina and placed it on a poster so that I could use it in my own home everyday.
I use the ʻike of our Hawaiian scholars; Kepelino, David Malo and Mary Kawena Pukui along with guidance from my kumu Henani Enos, Nāmahama Kalama Pānui and ʻIkaʻaka Nāhuewai. With their kōkua I was able to produce this Kaulana Mahina in ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi.
